Built Differently. For You.
Genuinely accessible, competitively priced Virginia criminal and traffic defense — there when you need us.
We only handle Criminal and Traffic Defense Cases
We’re not general practitioners juggling our criminal or traffic cases with a personal injury docket or worrying about family law cases while we’re preparing to take your case to trial. We spend 100% of our time and focus on criminal and traffic defense.
We don’t represent clients in those types of cases because we’d rather be great at one thing: defending you in a criminal or serious traffic case. Criminal and traffic defense in Virginia can be complex, and to be the best we can be for you and your case requires diligent focus on criminal and traffic defense to hone our craft.
Criminal Offenses
We handle the full range of Virginia criminal cases — from misdemeanors like petit larceny, drug possession, and assault and battery to serious felonies including aggravated assault, drug distribution, and embezzlement. Whether your case is in General District Court, Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, or Circuit Court, we know how the local prosecutors and judges approach these cases and how to position yours for the best possible outcome.
DWI and DUI Cases
A first-offense DUI in Virginia is a Class 1 Misdemeanor — up to 12 months in jail, a one-year license suspension, mandatory ignition interlock, and ASAP enrollment. With a BAC of 0.15% or higher, mandatory minimum jail time kicks in. We dig into every part of your case: the stop, the field sobriety tests, the breath or blood test, and how the evidence was handled. Constitutional, procedural, and medical issues all matter, and we know where to look.
Reckless Driving
There are over 20 code sections in Virginia defining what can be considered driving recklessly. Driving 20+ mph over the posted limit or anything above 85 mph, even if the speed limit is 65 or 70 mph can result in a Class 1 Misdemeanor for Reckless Driving. We’re here to help whether you’re a resident of Virginia driving to work, or an out-of-state driver just passing through.
Speeding and Traffic Violations
A speeding ticket isn’t just a fine — it’s demerit points on your record, higher insurance for years, and possible license suspension if points stack up. Most of our traffic cases end in a reduction or dismissal, and in most cases you don’t even need to come to court. We appear on your behalf, resolve your case, and report back. You stay home; we handle it.
Virginia Criminal and Traffic Defense Attorneys
We focus exclusively on defending criminal and serious traffic charges. That’s it. We’re not general practitioners because we’d rather be great at one thing: defending our clients in Virginia criminal and traffic defense cases. From a speeding ticket to murder trials, there’s almost nothing we haven’t seen — and we apply that same focus to every case, regardless of stakes.

Coverage Across Virginia
Twenty-seven jurisdictions. Two offices. The same five attorneys you’ll find on every case. Court doesn’t run on statutes alone — it runs on knowing how a particular judge thinks and how a particular prosecutor charges. We’ve spent years building that knowledge across Virginia. Whether your case is in central Virginia or on its southwestern edge, that experience goes to work for you, with the team you actually hired.
How We Work
Joyner Law started with one belief: lawyers are expensive, but they don’t need to be. Criminal and traffic defense should be accessible to the people who need it — not just the ones who can afford an expensive firm. We’ve built the practice around that idea. We charge flat rates and we give you a written quote for the full fee before you hire us, so you know exactly what you’re paying for. Every consultation we offer is free, with no commitment to hire us afterward.
Recognized across Virginia for the work we do
We don’t chase awards, but the work has been recognized consistently over the years. What matters more is what the recognition reflects — a firm where every attorney is genuinely good at what they do, and clients notice.
